International Syalons are delighted to receive two prizes at the British Ceramic Confederation health and safety Pledge conference and awards event in Stoke-on-Trent on 14th October 2021.
The BCC Pledge is an initiative promoting and sharing good health and safety practices across the UK ceramic industries, including technical ceramics and refractories, traditional pottery, tableware and whitewares, and construction products such as bricks, drainage pipes, a tiles.
The first award, under the ‘Risk Assessment, Design, Maintenance and Engineering’ category, was for the installation of a bespoke LEV dust capture system and revised manual handling training for a specific process within the factory. The second award within the ‘Working at Height’ category was for designing and installing a gated handrail with fall barriers, a permanently mounted harness with fall-arrest block, and an electrically operated crane system for safely lifting equipment from a 4m high platform and transferring it to ground level for maintenance. The judges gave particular praise for displaying “good worker involvement to risk assess and implement”, and for taking “detailed and comprehensive measures” to protect employees.
International Syalons remain committed to improving the working conditions for all employees, and look forward to continuing to support the BCC’s Health and Safety Pledge as it enters its 5th phase.
